ESTABLISHED IN FUKUOKA · 2003

A shared history.
A continuing purpose.

AAUS grew from a regional commitment to understand, treat and prevent urinary tract and sexually transmitted infections through research and collaboration.

2003

OUR ORIGINS

Created for cooperation across Asia

The AAUS constitution took effect on 1 July 2003 and was amended later that year on 12 October and 23 November. The association was founded in Fukuoka, Japan, in November 2003, with its first secretariat at the University of Occupational and Environmental Health in Kitakyushu.

Its purpose was clear from the beginning: to clarify the causes and pathology of UTI and STI, improve treatment and prevention, advance research into causative organisms and antimicrobial susceptibility, share those findings, and convene an Asian forum for professional exchange.
